To all friends of Jeel al Amal
Shortly before her death Alice wrote her last annual report and signed it personally.
Again a year has gone by at Jeel al Amal. We are determined to continue our work, because we see that the children who keep coming to our house are deprived of everything. They have nobody to take care of them and no place to stay. However, here they are encouraged by an education and may hope for a better and brighter future. We hope to continue with God’s help.
* 19 new boys have been entrusted to us by the Bureau of Social Services.
* At the opening of the school year we offered space for 72 infants and 235 children in the elementary school section. This required the purchase of additional furniture and training equipment.
* We also organized educational and entertaining trips for the children to Ramallah, Tulkarem, Jericho and Qalqiliah.
* We participated in various activities with primary schools and kindergartens in the neighbourhood (common games, sport).
* We held another summer camp for children who have no chance to go home in the summer. The children enjoyed many activities: drawing, reading, swimming, computer training, crafts, soccer and tennis.
* We participated in competitions (tennis and soccer), organized by the Ministry of Education. We have won these games.
* For the science lab we bought new instruments to activate science classes at the school.
It is important for us that our friends are informed, by this letter, of the activities that are undertaken at Jeel al Amal. We continue to pray that we can help - by your kind gifts - the children, who are less fortunate.
