A special letter

Monsieur Magro describes how he has experienced his visit. In his words you recognize the same dedication and views that urged Basil and Alice Sahhar in 1972 to set up Jeel al Amal, as a home for 'The Generation of Hope'.

Evidently 44 years on their inspiration is still the source of running water on which Jeel al Amal thrives. This does give hope for the future. That the French Consulate General wishes to be our partner, is cause for us to be grateful and encourages us.

The integral text of the letter is printed alongside. For the original letter click here.

Le Consul général               Jérusalem, le mardi 8 décembre 2015

Dear Najwa, dear members of the board, dear teachers and educators, dear children,

I would like to thank you very much for the beautiful drawing that I was given, and for the very nice time spent at Jeel al Amal on Monday.

I was truly impressed by the welcoming atmosphere, the quality of the infrastructures, the ambitious and innovative educational project and the kindness and dedication of the whole team at Jeel al Amal.

Mostly, I admired the attention you give to each child and the efforts to put into helping him reach his full potential and become a happy person.

I trust that you will continue to fulfill this important mission for many years, and I can assure you that the Consulate General of France in Jerusalem intends to remain your partner in this task.

          Yours sincerely,

                                                     Hervé MAGRO

With a special thanks for Thabet, Mustafa and Abed
