To all friends of Jeel al Amal

For the first time the children of Jeel al Amal participated in a performance for a live audience in the Palestinian National Theatre (Al Hakawati) in East Jerusalem. The event was the  grand finale of a project that started in 2012 in eight schools in Jerusalem under the title "Enhancing cultural activities in Jerusalem".

"Dance and colours project" aims at exploring amazing artistic and creative talents among Jerusalem Palestinian Students. The program included visual arts (drawing, puppet making, sculpturing, photographing) and performing arts (Arabic folklore dance, drama and theatre).

Professional trainers were selected with the objective of enhancing the children's personality and their affiliation with their heritage and culture and also to open the way for their imagination and creative thoughts.

One of the projects that Jeel al Amal children worked on was the bus of dreams where they enlisted and painted all their dreams in the bus. One hopes to be a doctor, another boy wants to become an IT specialist and some just dreamt of living in peace in Palestine.

At the end of the event in the Al Hakawati theatre the children of Jeel al Amal were given a certificate of excellence for their contribution and role in the project and a second certificate in Arabic folklore dancing (Dabkeh). There was also an exhibition in the Hall where all the art work of the children was shown.

It has been quite an experience for the children of Jeel al Amal to perform on stage for a huge audience. They really excelled in their performance and made us all so proud. Moreover, it is truly wonderful to see them performing and enjoying it from all their hearts.
