To all friends of Jeel al Amal

The annual summer camp this year is from June 20th to August. There are 40 children. They weren’t able to go to their families during the holidays. This summer camp makes sure that they do not feel abandoned and orphaned again.

The children enjoy divers and exciting activities, partly in collaboration with other organizations in the region. From England two dedicated volunteers arrived. Their help in various activities is greatly appreciated.

The program of activities was as follows:
* painting and drawing at Sunday and Tuesday
* music lessons
* swimming lessons, every Thursday all day
  at the pool
* four times a trip to different areas of the West
  Bank, to increase the children’s knowledge
  about where they come from
* activities in the field of sport: Sunday and
  Tuesday morning football, badminton or table
  tennis. Saturday and Wednesday training in
  basketball for the older boys
* if there is no activity in the afternoon, the boys
  usually look at educational and entertaining
  movies
* on Saturday, Monday and Wednesday the
  children go to the nearby al-Quds University,
  to the Sa’eed Khoury IT computer centre;
  there they learn to edit photo’s with
  Photoshop or movies with Movie Maker.

This year again the children enjoy the summer camp. Most of all they love to swim, because the weather is very hot. There have been already four excursions. There is still a trip to the zoo on the program.
