Jeel al Amal
To all friends of Jeel al Amal
On May 1th 2009, the board of Jeel al Amal appointed a director of fundraising. Her name is Zahra Khalidi - Zahra means flower. Her task is to ensure a sound financial basis for the boys home and the school. She is to make a plan for fundraising and an action plan for a period of three to five years, with measurable objectives.
Zahra will correspond with potential donors. She will develop programs and projects, provide reports and budgeting concepts, in conjunction with the financial officer of the board. In the field of media and communication she will prepare brochures and PowerPoint presentations.

Zahra takes up her job at a time that the financial situation is very critical. After the death of Alice Sahhar in October 2008 happened what was feared. For the first time in over 35 years the board is unable to pay bills and salaries: the backlog is already four months. The main problem is that many donors stop their programs or focus on more heavily affected areas in Palestine, including Gaza.
The leadership of the boys’ home and the school have agreed with Zahra to send a worldwide call to raise funds to cover fixed costs. We want to approach our friends abroad to support initiatives to give better circumstances for the children. Especially by equipping them to look for peaceful solutions. This is much needed in our time and especially in our country.
